A bill to amend title 10, United States Code, to provide for parental involvement in abortions of dependent children of members of the Armed Forces.

This bill would require physicians at Department of Defense facilities to notify a parent or legal guardian at least 24 hours before performing an abortion on an unmarried, minor child of a service member. The legislation provides exceptions for medical emergencies or cases where a federal district court judge grants a judicial waiver allowing the minor to consent to the procedure without parental notification. Physicians who fail to comply with these notification or judicial requirements would be subject to legal penalties.
