Establishes in the Department of Justice an Office of Juvenile Crime Control and Prevention, headed by an Administrator. Directs the Administrator to develop objectives, priorities, and short- and long-term plans, and to implement overall policy and a strategy, for Federal juvenile offender accountability programs and activities.
Establishes a community prevention grant program, including grants to Indian tribes.
Authorizes the Administrator to make grants to carry out projects for the development, testing, and demonstration of promising juvenile delinquency initiatives, and for training and technical assistance.
Directs the Administrator to make grants to: (1) establish and support programs and activities designed to prevent and reduce juvenile participation in criminal gang activity and for other related purposes; (2) establish and support mentoring programs for at-risk children; and (3) a qualified cooperative extension service to expand and replicate family mentoring programs.
Establishes a juvenile offender accountability block grant program.
Extends the Violent Crime Reduction Trust Fund.
Gun Show Background Check Act of 2001 - Extends background checks under the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act to gun shows.
Establishes a permanent prohibition on firearms transfers to or possession by dangerous juvenile offenders.
Child Safety Lock Act of 2001 - Amends the Brady Act to require child handgun safety locks. Amends the Consumer Product Safety Act to require the establishment of a standard for child handgun safety locks.
