A bill to establish new ZIP Codes for certain communities, and for other purposes.
Summary
S. 1455 proposes to direct the U.S. Postal Service to establish individual ZIP Codes for 14 communities that currently share postal codes with other areas. The affected communities are located in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. These include cities and villages such as Eastvale, California; Castle Pines and Silver Cliff, Colorado; Cooper City, Miami Lakes, and Ocoee, Florida; Urbandale, Iowa; Franklin, Greenfield, and three villages in Wisconsin; and Mills, Wyoming.
If enacted, this bill would give each of these communities its own distinct ZIP Code rather than sharing one with neighboring areas. This could affect mail delivery, business identification, and how residents and businesses are identified in postal records. The bill is currently in the early stages of the legislative process, having been introduced in the Senate in April 2025, and has been referred to committee for consideration.
