Veterans Opportunity Act of 2025
Summary
The Veterans Opportunity Act of 2025 would establish a new agency called the Veterans Economic Opportunity and Transition Administration within the Department of Veterans Affairs. This new administration would take over management of several existing VA programs designed to help veterans and their families build economic stability and transition to civilian life.
Specifically, the new administration would handle vocational rehabilitation and employment programs, educational assistance programs, veterans' housing loan programs, and the Transition Assistance Program that helps service members prepare for civilian employment. The bill would also allow the VA to transfer any other economic opportunity programs it deems appropriate to this new administration.
Before transferring these programs, the VA would need to certify that the transition would not harm the quality of services veterans receive and that the programs are ready to be moved. Currently, this bill has been introduced in the Senate and has received committee hearings, but it has not yet advanced further in the legislative process.
