RETURN Act

The Require Employees To Uniformly Return Now (RETURN) Act would require all Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employees to stop teleworking and return to their offices full-time. This mandate would take effect five business days after the bill is signed into law and remain in place until the IRS officially certifies that its backlog of unprocessed income tax returns has been eliminated.

For citizens, the bill is intended to speed up the processing of tax returns and the distribution of refunds by ensuring IRS staff are working on-site.
