Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge Act
Summary
This law officially renames the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge located in Texas to the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is a 39,000-acre protected area along the Texas Gulf Coast that serves as a sanctuary for migratory birds and diverse wildlife. It is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as part of the National Wildlife Refuge System and plays an important role in coastal conservation, public recreation, and environmental education. The renaming applies to all federal laws, maps, regulations, documents, and records that reference the refuge. The law codifies a previous executive order issued in March 2025 that had already changed the refuge's name. This change does not affect the refuge's operations, management, or conservation missionβit simply updates the official name by which the refuge is known and referenced in all government documents and records.
