Downwinders Compensation Act of 2015

The Downwinders Compensation Act of 2015 seeks to expand the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) to include more people affected by historical nuclear testing. If passed, the bill would allow residents of all of Clark County, Nevada, and parts of Arizona counties located north of the Grand Canyon to apply for financial restitution for health conditions linked to radiation exposure. This change would provide these individuals with the same access to government compensation currently available to those in other designated "downwind" areas. The bill was referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2015 but did not advance further in the legislative process.
