Ending the Diagnostic Odyssey Act of 2021

The Ending the Diagnostic Odyssey Act of 2021 would allow state Medicaid programs to cover whole genome sequencing for children and young adults with undiagnosed or suspected genetic diseases. This coverage would apply to individuals under age 21, as well as former foster youth up to age 26, who are receiving specialized medical care or intensive care for their conditions. By providing federal funding for these advanced tests, the bill aims to help families more quickly identify the underlying causes of rare illnesses and access appropriate treatments.
