Breast Cancer Patient Equity Act of 2021

The Breast Cancer Patient Equity Act of 2021 (S. 2051) would expand Medicare coverage to include custom-made external breast prostheses for patients who have undergone a mastectomy. While Medicare currently covers surgically implanted prostheses and standard "off-the-shelf" external options, this bill would ensure that custom-fabricated versions—which are often necessary for a more accurate fit and physical comfort—are also covered.
