People's Liberation Army Visa Security Act

The People’s Liberation Army Visa Security Act would prohibit individuals with ties to the Chinese military from obtaining student (F) or exchange visitor (J) visas to enter the United States. Under this bill, the President would be required to maintain a public list of Chinese research and engineering institutions funded by or affiliated with the People’s Liberation Army, and any person currently or formerly employed or sponsored by those entities would be barred from entry. Additionally, Chinese nationals applying for visas to study or work in sensitive scientific or technical fields would be subject to mandatory, specialized background checks to ensure they do not pose a security risk.
