STEM Opportunities Act

The STEM Opportunities Act (S. 2224) aims to increase the participation of underrepresented groups, including women and minorities, in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. The bill requires federal science agencies and universities to collect more detailed demographic data on grant recipients and faculty to identify where barriers to entry exist. Additionally, it provides funding for programs designed to help colleges and tribal universities recruit and retain students and faculty from diverse backgrounds while implementing new training to reduce bias in the federal research grant process.
