College Equity Act of 2021

The College Equity Act of 2021 would establish a federal grant program to help colleges and universities identify and remove barriers to student success. Participating institutions would use these funds to conduct "equity audits" to determine if their admissions, financial aid, and campus resources are creating unfair advantages or disadvantages based on a student's race, gender, age, or disability status. For students and families, the bill aims to create a more level playing field by requiring schools to develop and implement specific improvement plans to close gaps in graduation rates and access to campus support services.
