Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship Opportunity Act of 2025
Summary
S. 3040 would modify the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship, a program that provides additional educational benefits to veterans and service members. If enacted, the bill would make it easier for eligible veterans to access this scholarship by removing certain eligibility restrictions. Specifically, it would eliminate a requirement that veterans must have less than 180 days of remaining educational benefits to qualify, and would reduce by 25 percent the number of credits veterans must have completed before becoming eligible. The scholarship itself provides up to nine additional months of educational benefits, capped at $30,000, for those pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or health care fields. These changes would potentially allow more veterans to receive supplemental education funding for STEM and health care training programs. The bill is currently under consideration by the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee and has not yet been voted on by the full Senate.
