Internet Application I.D. Act

S. 3614 would require operators of internet websites and mobile applications that are owned, wholly or partially, by a foreign adversary country or entities located in such countries to disclose this ownership to users who download or use them. The bill would also apply to applications that store user data in foreign adversary countries. If enacted, the Federal Trade Commission would be responsible for enforcing this disclosure requirement. The bill is currently in committee and has not yet been voted on by the full Senate.
