Uyghur Policy Act of 2022

The Uyghur Policy Act of 2022 directs the U.S. Department of State to increase its diplomatic efforts and resources regarding the treatment of Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities in China’s Xinjiang region. The bill requires the government to provide Uyghur language training for foreign service officers and mandates the appointment of a Special Coordinator for Uyghur Issues to oversee international policy and human rights advocacy. Additionally, it directs U.S. diplomats to support these minority groups at international forums and push for the creation of a United Nations special rapporteur to monitor and report on human rights conditions in the region.
