Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park Establishment Act Amendments Act of 2025
Summary
S. 416 would amend the law establishing the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park in Woodstock, Vermont. The bill would expand the park's boundaries to include the King Farm and authorize the National Park Service to acquire land within the park through multiple methods, including purchasing, transferring, or exchanging land, in addition to the current ability to accept donated land.
Under the bill's provisions, any acquired King Farm land would need to include access rights connecting it to the existing park. The acquired land could be used for agricultural, forestry, conservation, and educational purposes. The bill would also establish statutory authority for the National Park Service Stewardship Institute, a program operated by the park.
Currently in the early stages of the legislative process, this bill has been introduced in the Senate and referred to committee. If enacted, it would allow the park to expand its holdings and diversify its land acquisition methods, potentially enabling greater conservation and educational opportunities in the Woodstock area.
