PAW Act

The Planning for Animal Wellness (PAW) Act requires the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to establish a working group of experts to update federal guidance regarding the safety of animals during natural disasters. This group is tasked with creating best practices for the evacuation, sheltering, and care of household pets, service animals, and captive animals. For citizens, this law aims to ensure that local and federal emergency plans better account for the needs of animal owners, helping to prevent the displacement or loss of pets during emergencies.
