Peace Corps Reauthorization Act of 2022

The Peace Corps Reauthorization Act of 2022 (S. 4466) updates and extends the operations of the Peace Corps through fiscal year 2027. The bill increases the "readjustment allowance" provided to volunteers to help them transition back to civilian life after their service and makes it easier for returning volunteers to secure federal jobs by codifying their noncompetitive hiring status into law. Additionally, the legislation strengthens protections for volunteers by requiring the agency to take active measures to prevent and address any retaliation or harassment by supervisors.
