Vet Center Enhancement Act of 2005

The Vet Center Enhancement Act of 2005 was designed to expand the reach and services of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) vet centers to better support returning service members and their families. The bill proposed hiring up to 50 veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to conduct outreach, helping fellow veterans access mental health services and readjustment counseling. Additionally, it sought to expand eligibility for bereavement counseling to include the parents of service members who died on active duty, allowing these families to receive support directly through local vet centers.
