TIVI Act

The Television Information-Enhancement for the Visually Impaired Act (TIVI Act) would require the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to reinstate rules that mandate "video descriptions" for television programming. These descriptions provide narrated audio tracks that describe the visual actions, settings, and costumes on screen during natural pauses in dialogue, making television more accessible to individuals who are blind or have low vision. The bill would also direct the FCC to investigate whether it is feasible to expand these requirements to include other forms of accessible information for the visually impaired.
