REDI Act

The REDI Act would permit borrowers enrolled in medical or dental internship and residency programs to defer their student loan payments until they finish their training. This deferment would apply specifically to residents in these specialized medical training programs, which typically last several years after medical or dental school.

If enacted, this bill could provide financial relief to medical and dental residents during their training years, when they may have limited income despite their advanced education. By allowing loan payments to be postponed until residency completion, the measure aims to reduce financial pressure on these professionals during their intensive training period.
