Workplace Wrongful Death Accountability Act

The Workplace Wrongful Death Accountability Act (S. 947) proposes to increase the criminal penalties for employers who willfully violate safety standards resulting in a worker's death. Under this bill, such violations would be elevated from a misdemeanor to a felony, increasing the maximum prison sentence from six months to 10 years for a first offense.

Additionally, the bill would double the penalties for providing unauthorized advance notice of a safety inspection and for making false statements to federal safety investigators.
