Blumenthal, Richard

Richard Blumenthal represents Connecticut as a Democratic member of the House. Before entering federal office, he established a lengthy legal and public service career, serving as a U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut and later as the state's Attorney General for two decades. His early professional life included serving in the Marine Corps Reserve and clerking for Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun. He also spent time in the Connecticut General Assembly, serving in both the state House and Senate.

In his current role, he is heavily involved in oversight and legal policy through his work on the Committee on the Judiciary and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
