Moran, Jerry

Jerry Moran is a veteran legislator from Kansas who has served in the U.S. Senate since 2011, following seven terms representing the state's 1st congressional district in the House of Representatives. Raised in Plainville, he earned his degrees from the University of Kansas and built a career as a lawyer, banker, and state special assistant attorney general. Before his time in Washington, he served in the Kansas Senate, where he rose to the position of majority leader. He is currently the dean of the Kansas congressional delegation.

In the Senate, Moran holds influential roles on several committees, including Appropriations, Commerce, and Veterans' Affairs. He has chaired subcommittees focused on aviation and consumer protection, and he previously served as the chair of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
