Background
Shontel Brown was born on June 24, 1975. Before entering public service, she founded and operated Diversified Digital Solutions, a marketing support company. Her professional background also includes serving as the chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, where she was the first woman and the first African American to hold that position.
Political career
Shontel Brown began her public service on the Warrensville Heights City Council and later served on the Cuyahoga County Council representing the 9th district. In 2017, she was elected as the chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, becoming the first woman and first African American to hold the position. She has served as the U.S. representative for Ohio's 11th congressional district since 2021, after winning a special election to fill the seat vacated by Marcia Fudge.
