About
Gabe Evans represents Colorado's 8th congressional district, which includes parts of Weld and Adams counties in the Denver metro area. He was elected in 2024, defeating incumbent Democratic congresswoman Yadira Caraveo. Evans brings a background in military service and law enforcement to Congress. He served in the Virginia Army National Guard from 2007 to 2009, then earned a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army while joining the Colorado National Guard, where he served from 2009 to 2019. During his military career, he trained as a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter pilot, deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom from 2012 to 2013, and reached the rank of captain. In the Colorado National Guard, he applied his piloting skills to wildfire suppression and search and rescue operations. Evans was honorably discharged in 2019.
Following his military service, Evans worked in law enforcement with the Arvada Police Department starting in 2011 while still serving in the National Guard. He advanced to the rank of lieutenant before retiring in January 2022 to pursue his congressional campaign. He also works as a firearms instructor.
In Congress, Evans serves on the House Committee on Homeland Security, where he is a member of the Emergency Management and Technology and Counterterrorism and Intelligence subcommittees. He also serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, with assignments to the Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade; Energy; and Environment subcommittees. His legislative priorities reflect his background in military and emergency services, with sponsored bills including the Veterans Burial Allowance and Reimbursement Act of 2026, the Expediting Federal Broadband Deployment Reviews Act, and the Stop Pills That Kill Act.
