Moskowitz, Jared

Jared Moskowitz is a Democratic Representative serving Florida's 23rd Congressional District, which includes parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties. First elected in 2022 and assuming office in January 2023, he brought a background in law and emergency management to Washington. Before his time in Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2012 to 2019 and was later appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis as the Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management. In that role, he oversaw the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and major natural disasters like Hurricane Michael. He also served briefly on the Broward County Commission.

In the House, Moskowitz holds several key committee assignments, including the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the House Committee on the Judiciary. He serves as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Intelligence within the Foreign Affairs Committee. His legislative priorities often reflect his experience in disaster response and his personal connection to the Parkland community; he is a graduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and was a primary architect of Florida's 2018 school safety and gun violence prevention legislation. His sponsored bills include the Federal Emergency Management Continuity Act and the Natural Disaster Risk Reinsurance Program Act, aimed at improving federal disaster readiness and response.
