Nehls, Troy E.

Troy E. Nehls is a Republican Representative for Texas's 22nd Congressional District, first entering the House in January 2021. Born on April 7, 1968, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, he built a long career in public service before joining Congress. He served 21 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of Major after deployments to Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In his civilian life, Nehls spent nearly three decades in law enforcement, serving as a constable and later as the Sheriff of Fort Bend County from 2013 to 2021.

In the House, Nehls holds significant roles on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, where he serves as the Chair of the Subcommittee on Aviation. His committee work also extends to the Committee on the Judiciary, with assignments on subcommittees dedicated to crime, federal government surveillance, and immigration integrity.
