About

Jimmy Patronis is a Republican Representative for Florida's 1st Congressional District, which covers the state's Western Panhandle, including Pensacola and his hometown of Panama City. He entered Congress in April 2025 following a special election to fill the seat vacated by Matt Gaetz. Before his election to the U.S. House, Patronis had an extensive career in Florida state government, serving as the state's Chief Financial Officer from 2017 to 2025, a member of the Florida Public Service Commission, and a four-term member of the Florida House of Representatives. Outside of politics, he is a partner in his family's long-standing seafood restaurant, Captain Anderson's.

In the House, Patronis serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on Small Business. His subcommittee assignments include Aviation, Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, and Rural Development, Energy, and Supply Chains. His legislative priorities often reflect the needs of his district's military and coastal community, as well as his background in finance and small business management.

Patronis has sponsored several key pieces of legislation, including the HOMEFRONT Act of 2025, which aims to modernize military housing by removing bureaucratic hurdles and banning restrictive nondisclosure agreements for service members. He also introduced the Save for Success Act to help first-time homebuyers use college savings for housing expenses and the PROTECT Act. Throughout his tenure, he has remained a vocal supporter of the America First agenda, focusing on tax cuts, reduced government spending, and increased support for veterans and first responders.
