This joint resolution would overturn a 2024 Department of Justice rule that expanded the definition of who is "engaged in the business" as a firearms dealer. Under the current rule, more individuals who sell firearms for profit—including those at gun shows or through online platforms—are required to obtain a federal firearms license and conduct background checks on buyers. If this resolution becomes law, it would nullify those requirements, returning the definition to its previous narrower scope and preventing the agency from issuing a similar rule in the future.
