Providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Justice relating to "Office of the Attorney General; Home Confinement Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act".

This joint resolution would overturn a Department of Justice rule that allows certain federal inmates to remain in home confinement after the COVID-19 emergency period ends. Under the CARES Act, thousands of low-level, non-violent prisoners were transitioned to home confinement to reduce the spread of the virus in prisons; the current rule gives the Bureau of Prisons the discretion to let those individuals finish their sentences at home rather than returning them to a correctional facility. If this resolution becomes law, it would effectively nullify that authority, potentially requiring those individuals to be re-incarcerated to serve the remainder of their terms.
