Train FOOD Act
Summary
The Train FOOD Act would direct Amtrak to create an advisory committee tasked with reviewing the railroad company's progress in implementing recommendations from the Amtrak Food and Beverage Working Group. This committee would focus on improving the quality and service of food and beverages offered to passengers during train trips.
Under this proposal, the advisory committee would be required to submit annual reports to Congress detailing Amtrak's implementation of each recommendation from the working group. These reports would be made publicly available on Amtrak's website, allowing citizens to track improvements to onboard dining services. Additionally, the Government Accountability Office would submit its own report to Congress assessing Amtrak's progress in implementing the recommendations.
If enacted, this bill would create a formal oversight mechanism for Amtrak's food and beverage services, potentially leading to better dining options for train passengers. The bill is currently under consideration in the House Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials and has not yet been voted on by the full House.
