Care for COFA Veterans Act

The Care for COFA Veterans Act (H.R. 3948) would authorize the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide medical care and health services to U.S. military veterans living in the Freely Associated States, which include the Republic of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia.

Currently, veterans residing in these nations are often ineligible for direct VA care and must pay out-of-pocket or travel long distances to U.S. territories like Guam or Hawaii to receive treatment. If passed, this bill would allow the VA to establish local clinics, provide telehealth services, ship medications directly to these veterans, and reimburse them for travel required to receive care for service-connected conditions.
