BOWOW Act of 2025
Summary
The BOWOW Act (Bill to Outlaw Wounding of Official Working Animals Act) would amend federal immigration law to address crimes against animals used by law enforcement agencies. Specifically, the bill would make it a deportable offense for non-citizens who have been convicted of harming animals used by federal law enforcement, such as police dogs and other working animals. The bill was introduced after a Customs and Border Patrol detection dog named Freddie was assaulted by a non-citizen from Egypt in June 2025.
