Arsenic-Treated Lumber Prohibition and Disposal Act

H.R. 4707 would ban the use of wood treated with arsenic-based pesticides, commonly known as CCA lumber, for residential projects and products intended for children, such as playground equipment. The bill would also classify this lumber as hazardous waste, requiring it to be disposed of in specialized landfills with monitoring systems to prevent environmental contamination. Additionally, it would establish grant programs and educational resources to help schools and local governments identify and safely remove existing arsenic-treated structures.
