Fishing Industry Credit Enhancement Act of 2023

The Fishing Industry Credit Enhancement Act of 2023 would expand access to the Farm Credit System for businesses that provide direct support to commercial fishing operations. Currently, while fishermen can access these specialized agricultural loans, the businesses they rely on—such as gear manufacturers, cold storage facilities, and shipyards—often cannot.

By allowing these support businesses to qualify for the same low-cost financing available to farm-service providers, the bill aims to strengthen the infrastructure of coastal economies.
