RELIEF Act

H.R. 7736, the Restoring Economic Lifelines for Independent Enterprises and Family Businesses Act, would provide financial relief to importers affected by tariffs. The bill would require the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to refund tariffs that were collected under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act beginning January 1, 2025. These refunds would need to be processed within 90 days after the bill becomes law. The measure is currently under committee consideration and has not yet been voted on by the full House. If enacted, the bill would alleviate financial burdens on businesses that have paid tariffs imposed under emergency trade authorities.
