Increasing Access to Dental Insurance Act

The Increasing Access to Dental Insurance Act would change federal rules to permit individuals to enroll in dental benefits plans on health insurance exchanges without also being required to purchase a qualified health plan. Currently, Americans cannot buy dental coverage alone on the federal marketplace and must purchase medical insurance to access dental plans.

If enacted, this bill would expand dental coverage opportunities to several groups including employees of small businesses that offer medical insurance without dental benefits, seniors over 65 without dental coverage, veterans lacking dental coverage, and Medicaid beneficiaries in states without adult dental coverage. The legislation aims to increase competition in the dental insurance marketplace and make affordable oral health services more accessible to millions of Americans who currently lack dental coverage.
