Resiliency for Ranching and Natural Conservation Health Act
Summary
S. 211, the Resiliency for Ranching and Natural Conservation Health Act, would modify federal grazing regulations to support ranchers managing livestock on public lands. The bill would allow ranchers holding existing grazing permits or leases to temporarily use vacant grazing allotments when their normal grazing areas become unusable due to natural disasters, droughts, wildfires, or other extreme events. This temporary access would be granted by the Department of Agriculture or other relevant agencies when deemed suitable.
The bill would also extend the period of grazing permits and leases for up to 20 years under certain conditions and would allocate funding for rangeland health and resiliency projects. Additionally, it would provide public access agreements to land-locked public lands for hunting and recreation. The legislation aims to streamline permit renewal processes and provide more responsive management during emergencies. The bill is currently in committee and has not yet been voted on by the full Senate.
