PRICE Act
Summary
S. 943, the Preservation and Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement (PRICE) Act, would create a competitive grant program designed to support and improve manufactured housing communities across the country. The bill would allow eligible recipients—including resident-owned cooperatives, local governments, housing authorities, and nonprofit organizations—to apply for grants to fund various community improvement projects.
The grants could be used for infrastructure improvements, housing reconstruction or replacement, resident services, land acquisition, and activities that enhance health, safety, and accessibility within manufactured housing communities. The bill prioritizes projects that primarily benefit low and moderate-income residents and preserve long-term housing affordability. Notably, grants cannot be used to rehabilitate housing built before June 15, 1976, but can be used to replace such older units with homes that meet modern safety standards.
This bill is in its early stages and has not yet received committee action. As with most introduced bills, it faces an uncertain path forward in Congress.
