Bill Hagerty is a Republican U.S. Senator from Tennessee who previously served as the United States ambassador to Japan from 2017 to 2019.

Background

Bill Hagerty began his career at the Boston Consulting Group, which included a three-year assignment in Tokyo, and later worked in private equity at Trident Capital. He co-founded the investment firm Hagerty Peterson & Company and served as the commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development from 2011 to 2014. Before his time in the Senate, he also served as a White House Fellow under President George H.W. Bush and as the United States Ambassador to Japan.
