Specialist Joey Lenz Act of 2025

The Specialist Joey Lenz Act of 2025 would require the Department of Defense to enhance periodic health assessments for members of the Armed Forces. Specifically, annual health assessments would need to include a sports physical, an electrocardiogram (heart rhythm test), and specified blood work. The bill would also mandate that other periodic assessments include testing related to exposure to burn pits and PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances), along with any other tests the Department of Defense determines to be appropriate.

If enacted, this legislation could improve early detection of health conditions among military personnel by requiring more comprehensive screening. The bill is currently in the House of Representatives and has been referred to committee for consideration. It has not yet been voted on by the full chamber.
