DRIVE Act of 2025

The DRIVE Act of 2025 would increase the mileage reimbursement rate that veterans receive when traveling to Department of Veterans Affairs facilities. Currently, veterans are reimbursed for travel related to vocational rehabilitation, required counseling, medical examinations, treatment, or care. If enacted, this bill would raise that reimbursement rate to match or exceed the rate that federal government employees receive when using their personal vehicles for official business.

The bill also includes a requirement that the VA process and pay mileage reimbursement claims within 90 days of receiving a properly submitted request. This provision aims to ensure veterans receive their reimbursements more quickly. The bill is currently under consideration in the House Subcommittee on Health and has not yet been voted on by the full chamber.
