Teacher and School Leader Quality Partnership Grants Act
Summary
H.R. 1331 would reauthorize and expand the Teacher Quality Partnership program, which currently provides federal grants to improve teacher quality and professional development. If enacted, the bill would extend the program through fiscal year 2031 and broaden its scope to include training and professional development for principals and other school leaders, not just teachers.
The bill would require partnerships receiving grants to use evidence-based teaching methods and follow comprehensive evaluation plans measuring performance. It would also authorize new grants specifically for professional development programs that allow teachers to remain in the classroom while taking on formalized leadership responsibilities. Additionally, the bill would establish an advisory committee within the Department of Education to study best practices for preparing teachers and school leaders.
Currently in the House committee stage, this legislation would affect how federal education funding supports educator development if it advances through Congress and receives presidential approval.
