National STEM Week Act

The National STEM Week Act proposes the creation of a designated week each year focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Under this bill, a federal committee would be responsible for selecting the dates and coordinating efforts to encourage students, families, and schools to engage in STEM-related activities. The goal is to increase national interest and proficiency in these critical fields by fostering a collaborative environment between educators and the private sector.

If enacted, the bill would encourage businesses in STEM industries to take an active role in education by providing mentorship programs, hosting site visits, and offering guest lectures to students. Furthermore, these companies would be encouraged to support schools through financial contributions, resources, and technical expertise. To ensure the initiative is meeting its goals, the committee would be required to submit an annual report to Congress detailing the activities and participation levels from the week.
