Veterans’ True Choice Act of 2025

The Veterans' True Choice Act of 2025 would expand access to TRICARE Select, a Department of Defense health care program, to eligible veterans. Covered veterans would include those with service-connected disabilities, former prisoners of war, Purple Heart recipients, Medal of Honor recipients, those medically discharged from service, and those entitled to disability compensation. Under the bill, the Department of Veterans Affairs would reimburse the Department of Defense for the costs of enrolling these eligible veterans in the program.

If enacted, the bill would require that covered veterans choose between receiving medical care from either the Department of Defense or the Veterans Affairs system, but not both simultaneously. This proposal is currently under consideration by the House Subcommittee on Health and has not yet been voted on by the full chamber.
