No Foreign Persons Administering Our Elections Act

H.R. 882, the No Foreign Persons Administering Our Elections Act, would prevent states and local jurisdictions from employing noncitizens in roles that administer federal elections. This bill is currently in the early stages of the legislative process, having been introduced in the House in January 2025 and referred to committee for consideration.

If enacted, this legislation would restrict who states and localities can hire for election administration positions related to federal elections. The practical effect would be to limit the pool of available workers for these roles to U.S. citizens only. The bill has not yet been voted on by the full House and remains under committee review.
