Advancing GETs Act of 2025
Summary
The Advancing GETs Act of 2025 would require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to establish a financial incentive program for companies that invest in grid-enhancing technologies. These technologies are hardware or software designed to increase the capacity, efficiency, reliability, resilience, or safety of the electrical transmission system. Under the proposed incentive, developers would receive a portion of the cost savings their technologies generate, encouraging more investment in these innovations.
The bill would also direct the Department of Energy to create an application guide for utilities and developers implementing grid-enhancing technologies, provide technical assistance upon request, and establish a clearinghouse of completed projects to help identify solutions for specific applications. Additionally, the legislation would require the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to establish standardized metrics for measuring and reporting data on these technologies, with the data made publicly available to help identify areas where transmission congestion management is most costly.
