Hospital Adoption Education Act of 2025
Summary
The Hospital Adoption Education Act of 2025 would direct the Secretary of Health and Human Services to develop and nationally distribute educational resources about adoption sensitivities in healthcare settings. The bill would require HHS to create both digital and print materials, maintain a dedicated website for healthcare workers, and provide professional development and training to hospital and birthing center staff on how to provide accurate, ethical, and unbiased information to expectant mothers considering adoption.
The bill would also require HHS to provide consultation services to hospitals and birthing centers on adoption-sensitive policies and procedures. If enacted, HHS would need to evaluate the effectiveness of these programs by tracking how many hospitals implement adoption-sensitive programs and how many healthcare providers receive training. A report on these findings would be submitted to Congress within three years of the bill's enactment.
The bill is currently referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions and has not yet been voted on by the full Senate.
