A joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management relating to "Protection of Marine Archaeological Resources".

This joint resolution disapproves a Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) rule that was designed to protect shipwrecks and other cultural artifacts on the ocean floor. The rule, which took effect in October 2024, required oil and gas companies to submit archaeological reports before conducting any exploration or development activities on the Outer Continental Shelf, regardless of whether archaeologists believed cultural resources were present in the area. Previously, such reports were only required if BOEM had reason to believe archaeological resources might exist.
